PCC Meeting Synopsis – 11 May 2026
A meeting of the PCC was held in Royston Parish Church, on Monday 11 May 2026 at 7.00 p.m.
There were 13 members present, the meeting was opened with prayer.
There were 6 apologies from those unable to attend.
The minutes of the meetings of the previous meeting were approved.
Matters Arising
It had been agreed (by drawing lots) which of the new PCC members would serve for two years rather than three.
The date of the planned PCC meeting for January 27 needed to be changed, this was quickly agreed.
The PCC was to receive a visit from an expert on Solar panels.
Record of decisions taken by the Standing Committee of the PCC, A locksmith had been engaged to repair a lock, the expense was ratified.
Finance
The PCC agreed to support the Holiday club with a £50 donation per session and the parents craft night in early December.
To encourage Christian stewardship It was agreed that the stewardship leaflets (and the church history leaflet) should be permanently displayed at the entrance to the church.
The electricity expenditure was discussed and turning the outside lights off at night is to be considered.
The possible revision of fees for bell ringing is to be considered in the near future.
Committees
Events
It was agreed that a fee should be introduced to cover the electricity and other resources used up by outside caterers providing refreshments after funerals. Those responsible were thanked for all their hard work on the book fayre.
Outreach
An addition to the church’s audio visual technology was discussed, It was agreed that more detail was needed for further consideration.
Sustainable Living
There is some concern about how well the magazine is read online, this is to be investigated.
Fabric
A worn and deteriorated gravestone is of concern, this is in hand.
Interviews for church architect and in hand.
Information Systems
A new IT system is being considered and the PCC asked for more details prior to making a decision.
Safeguarding
The lone-working policy will be circulated shortly.
Prince Andrew’s Close (The Curate’s House)
Renaming Prince Andrew’s Close has been suggested, it was confirmed that the PCC would respect the decision without expressing any detailed opinion.
The meeting closed with Grace at 9.00pm.
