READING

A Reading from the Prophecy of Isaiah

Ho, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; and you that have no money, come, buy and eat!
Come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread, and your labour for that which does not satisfy? Listen carefully to me, and eat what is good, and delight yourselves in rich food. Incline your ear, and come to me; listen, so that you may live. I will make with you an everlasting covenant, my steadfast, sure love for David. See, I made him a witness to the peoples, a leader and commander for the peoples. See, you shall call nations that you do not know, and nations that do not know you shall run to you, because of the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, for he has glorified you. Isaiah 55: 1 - 5

This is the word of the Lord

All:                Thanks be to God

GOSPEL

Hear the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to Matthew

All:             Glory to you, O Lord.

When Jesus heard this, he withdrew from there in a boat to a deserted place by himself. But when the crowds heard it, they followed him on foot from the towns. When he went ashore, he saw a great crowd; and he had compassion for them and cured their sick. When it was evening, the disciples came to him and said, ‘This is a deserted place, and the hour is now late; send the crowds away so that they may go into the villages and buy food for themselves.’ Jesus said to them, ‘They need not go away; you give them something to eat.’ They replied, ‘We have nothing here but five loaves and two fish.’ And he said, ‘Bring them here to me.’ Then he ordered the crowds to sit down on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish, he looked up to heaven, and blessed and broke the loaves, and gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds. And all ate and were filled; and they took up what was left over of the broken pieces, twelve baskets full. And those who ate were about five thousand men, besides women and children.                               Matthew 14: 13 - 21

This is the Gospel of the Lord.

All:             Praise to you, O Christ.

This is the Gospel of the Lord.

All:                Praise to you, O Christ.

INTERCESSIONS See Church News for the latest intercessions list

THE PEACE:

The peace of the Lord be always with you;

All:     and also with you.

Be present, be present,

Lord Jesus Christ,

our risen high priest;

make yourself known in the breaking of bread.

All:         Amen.

All:     God of all goodness and grace,

receive the gifts we offer;

and grant that our whole life

may give you glory and praise;

through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

EUCHARISTIC PRAYER:

The Lord is here.

All:     His Spirit is with us.

Lift up your hearts.

All:     We lift them to the Lord.

Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.

All:     It is right to give thanks and praise.

It is right to praise you, Father, Lord of all creation; in your love you made us for yourself.

When we turned away you did not reject us,

but came to meet us in your Son.

All:     You embraced us as your children

and welcomed us to sit and eat with you.

In Christ you shared our life

that we might live in him and he in us.

All:     He opened his arms of love upon the cross and made for all the perfect sacrifice for sin.

On the night he was betrayed,

at supper with his friends

he took bread, and gave you thanks;

he broke it and gave it to them, saying:

Take, eat; this is my body which is given for you;

do this in remembrance of me.

All:      Father, we do this in remembrance of him: his body is the bread of life.

At the end of supper, taking the cup of wine,

he gave you thanks, and said:

Drink this, all of you; this is my blood of the new covenant,

which is shed for you for the forgiveness of sins;

do this in remembrance of me.

All:     Father, we do this in remembrance of him: his blood is shed for all.

As we proclaim his death and celebrate his rising in glory,

send your Holy Spirit that this bread and this wine

may be to us the body and blood of your dear Son.

All:     As we eat and drink these holy gifts

make us one in Christ, our risen Lord.

With your whole Church throughout the world

we offer you this sacrifice of praise

and lift our voice to join the eternal song of heaven:

All:     Holy, holy, holy Lord,

God of power and might,

Heaven and earth are full of your glory.

Hosanna in the highest.

THE LORD’S PRAYER:

As our Saviour taught us, so we pray

All:     Our Father in heaven,

hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power,
and the glory are yours
now and for ever.   Amen.

BREAKING OF THE BREAD:

All:     Lamb of God,

you take away the sin of the world,

have mercy on us.

Lamb of God,

you take away the sin of the world,

have mercy on us.

Lamb of God,

you take away the sin of the world,

grant us peace.

GIVING OF COMMUNION:

Jesus is the Lamb of God

who takes away the sin of the world.

Blessed are those who are called to his supper.

All:        Lord, I am not worthy to receive you,

   but only say the word, and I shall be healed.

POST-COMMUNION PRAYER

Strengthen for service, Lord,

the hands that have taken holy things;

may the ears which have heard your word

be deaf to clamour and dispute;

may the tongues which have sung your praise be free from deceit;

may the eyes which have seen the tokens of your love

shine with the light of hope;

and may the bodies which have been fed with your body

be refreshed with the fullness of your life;

glory to you for ever.

Amen

THE LIVING GOD’S LOVE PRAYER:

ALL:    Living God,

Draw us deeper into your love;

Jesus our Lord,

Send us to care and serve;

Holy Spirit,

Make us heralds of good news.

Stir us, strengthen us, teach and inspire us to live your love

with generosity and joy,

imagination and courage;

for the sake of your world and in the name of Jesus. Amen.

BLESSING

THE DISMISSAL:

     Go in peace to love and serve the Lord.

All:          In the name of Christ. Amen.
