Bishop Peter Ball - BBC Documentary

With safeguarding in the public eye again this week, I'd like to take a moment to remind you how seriously we take safeguarding in the parish. We follow all the requirements of the House of Bishops' policy and the church legislative requirements. We practice safe recruiting and we have a parish safeguarding officer. We have participated in the diocese's safeguarding training and follow the requirement for this to be refreshed every three years. There is signposting on the parish website and noticeboards about who to contact in case there are any issues anyone wishes to raise. The diocese's and our approach to handling any situation that does arise is best described as 'survivor led.'

We believe that these measures meet with best practice in any organisation or community setting aimed at welcoming people of all ages, especially children, young people and vulnerable adults.

The last thing for me to say is that should anyone have any concerns they can be raised with me, our parish safeguarding officer or with the diocesan team on This email address is being protected from spambots. The national church's statement and our own bishop's response to this week's BBC 2 documentary can be read on https://www.stalbans.anglican.org/bishops-response-to-bbc-documentary-on-peter-ball/

TOTAL RAISED SO FAR - £42,000

THANK YOU

This total includes donations via online giving and other fundraising (including gift aid).  This is demonstrates the amazing generousity from the people of Royston and beyond.

Royston Parish Church is a focal point for the whole community of Royston. We will be restoring the church following the devastating fire and we will be taking the opportunity to update and refurbish it ready for the years ahead. Although the insurance will cover much of the work it will not be sufficient to cover all of the improvements that the church really needs in order to serve the community in the 21st century and beyond. We all want a beautiful building where everyone can be made very welcome and which can be used in a variety of ways for the benefit of the community. All your generous donations will go towards making this vision a reality. Thank you for all you are doing to help the church at this difficult time.

You can make donations via the Virgin Money Giving website
